Asphalt Sealing and Filling

Cracksealing is a first defense against pavement deterioration offering several important benefits. Effective asphalt sealing keeps water from entering and weakening the base or sub-base. It helps preserve the pavement adjacent to the cracks; prevents sand, stone, and dirt from making its way into open cracks causing compressive stresses; and extends pavement life by minimizing crack growth.

Proper attention to cracks prevents problems from spreading and doubles the life of the pavement. Pavement repair in early stages of deterioration pay big dividends later delaying costly resurfacing. Filling the cracks in the pavement is the most economical way to ensure you do not incur expensive repaving and patching costs in the future.

Joint Sealing

A joint occurs in an asphalt pavement when a fresh batch of hot-mix asphalt (HMA) is laid adjacent to an existing lane. Most often, differences in the temperature and mat plasticity causes an improper bonding of the fresh HMA with the older asphalt lane and this subsequently causes the joint to possess a significantly lower density than the rest of the pavement. Over time, cracking usually occurs between the asphalt mats, permitting the intrusion of water, increasing roughness, and potentially limiting the life of the pavement. Applying a joint sealer on the face of the unconfined edge of the cold lane ensures a better bond and produces the most durable joint.

Filling

Small cracks tells a lot about your pavements condition. Cracks allow water to enter and cause damage to the pavement resulting in potholes and alligator cracking. Cracks will indicate signs of a serious problem requiring repairs and even replacement if not dealt with. Filling the cracks in the pavement is the most economical way to ensure you do not incur expensive repaving and patching costs in the future.
